This is the latest picture of our house. We put up an American flag and our grass continues to grow! This week was all about insulating (Mark's pride and joy). I stayed far far away from fiber glass. Yuck! Check out the pics of insulation below! Next step: Blue board, yay walls!
Me waiting while mark gets insulation :p
Looks like cotton candy, but I wouldn't recommend eating it:

Our bathroom. Totally kidding! That will be a built in bookshelf. Toilet is just hiding there for now (not in use).

Can you believe it? We have some grass growing!! I haven't seen the house in a week and this was a great surprise to me today. We can instantly see the difference. Hurray! Keep growing!
Mark and I purchased more flowers for the lamppost today, they will fill in nicely!
Grassy Patch!
Today I worked on painting our patio table to match the chairs. Check it out! Before:

Mark's goal today was to work on the basement floor. He used Wet Look Concrete Sealer. This helps keep the dust down! He got half of the floor sealed today, the electrician had to work in the basement so he'll finish another day:
Until next time!

Happy Labor Day! And labor we did. Today's mission was to clean from top to bottom for our inspections this week: electrical, smoke detectors and rough framing. We moved the left over items out of the attic, second floor and first floor and into Mark's Uncle Mark's barn (I know that sounds confusing but that's nothing-there are two more Marks in the family. Makes remembering names easy). These are pieces we want to keep for ourselves or sell because they are antiques. Mom and Dad came up to help us clean which was very helpful. We had three vacuums going at once and filled them all with dust. My pride and joy are the bookshelves, can not WAIT to get my collection in there! I gave them a good dusting and cleaning today. We put many items outside on a table marked "free" and had a lot of shoppers. It's hard to let go of these great items but we have our own things to bring into our home, so unfortunately we have to get rid of the previous owner's belongings somehow. Our second adventure today was at Lowes. They had a great sale going on appliances this weekend. We got 10% off each appliance and an additional 10% off with a second coupon (we were surprised we could use both but didn't say a word)! We opened two Lowes cards and already used up our credit. With the card we get 18 months interest free financing. Now the trick is to actually pay it off on time ;). Yay electrolux appliances!

Compost spread, grass seed thrown and fertilizer put down. Let's grow some grass!!
Some new shingles on the back of the house. We believe we have the original shingles from 1922, when you go to touch them, they fall right off. Eventually the entire house will have to be re-shingled. We have a goal of one side a year!
This space used to be a solid wall, now we have a patio door (patio coming soon). It adds so much natural light to the kitchen.
Where there once was a screened in porch, there is now the beginnings of a master bathroom. This side of the house was closed in and shingled, complete with new crank window. While the screen porch would have been awesome, we would want to use it to entertain and wouldn't want people to have to walk through our bedroom to get there. PLUS don't forget-we already have a porch on the first floor with a great breeze!
Trim on the porch is primed and ready for bright red paint!
New 76!
Where there used to be a hollowed out apple tree, now stands our new/old light post. Mark rescued this from craigslist and we sanded it down and painted it. It awaits our new onion lamp, it's on the way!
These metal lawn chairs were found for free. I sanded and repainted them, they look like new! We bought cushions on sale at Home Depot to make them extra comfy!
