Today was a beautiful day for working in the yard. Mark and I were up at 6:00am and finished around 7:00pm. We dug out flower beds, shopped for flowers and shrubs, and even transplanted some flowers from a neighbor's garden. We got a nice tan in the process (burn for me of course) and here are some pictures of what we completed today. We have more planting to do in the back yard but we're getting there. Below are pictures of our new walkway, new cedar shingles, our fence, landscaping, and our veggie/herb garden. Master bath and closet are coming along nicely, pictures to come soon!

House updates have been a little slow over the winter months but now that Spring is here and we received our equity line, there are many more posts to come. My last post was about our dog Moxie that we adopted from the North East Animal Shelter. She is fitting in very well here and has made so many new friends. One thing I love about Marblehead is that this is a dog town. Water bowls are outside of every store along with leash tie ups. Everyone. has. a. dog. So naturally, we do too! If you are thinking of getting a pet, please please adopt. It takes time for your pet to become familiar with its new home but once it does, they are forever thankful and happy. I have promised myself not to return to the shelter for I will bring home another pet...Mark on the other hand keeps talking about a friend for Moxie...after construction.

Anyway, this gorgeous weekend was filled with fun projects. Construction has begun on our master closet! This is going to be a 10' x 12' space that was previously an outdoor sleeping porch. Below are two pictures of the closet being closed in and shingled. While our house currently looks like a hodge-podge of old and new shingles, our goal is to have the front shingles re-done this spring too!

I will include pictures of the inside of the closet as that progresses.

This weekend Mark and Mr. P worked on creating a cement slab for our Central Air units to sit on. Conveniently, this slab is located behind our front porch so the units won't be visible.

My job this weekend was to finally paint the bookshelves I have been promising to paint for months now. These bookshelves belong to our bedroom and have been calling my name since we got them. The bookshelves were primed with two coats of primer, and then painted with two coats of Dove White by Valspar. Moxie was a big help.

Our current project is our garden. Mark has created a nice space in the backyard for our garden and we are currently fencing it in with a green wire fence so the Moxinator doesn't make any fast moves (she loves to eat tomatoes). Once that project is complete, pictures will be posted.

As for Moxie, we took an awesome hike today at Steer Swamp. The name doesn't do justice to the beautiful walk we had. Moxie loves to go for walks, wrestle with her best friends Obo and Fletcher, and she absolutely loves grilling with her Dad. Until next time!

Another snowy day! No school or work for us today, staying warm and cozy with our newest addition to the Pelletier household: Moxie! We adopted Moxie on Monday night from the Northeast Animal Shelter. She has transitioned really well and loves her new home. We kept thinking we would wait until Summer to adopt, but just couldn't wait. Below is our baby girl, part lab, part chow (spotted tongue) and there has got to be some shepherd in there somewhere. :)

Our kitchen faucet arrived this week, Mr. Pelletier and Chuck put it in for us. We love it!

I am spoiled and now know what it is like to have a TV in my bedroom. Mark mounted it to the wall. So much better watching TV and falling asleep in bed as opposed to the couch! Wondering why we have horses in the room? Mark has been re-finishing all the doors in the house, one at a time. Our bedroom is the lucky work area for now.

Here comes spring! Or so we hope. We've started our garden indoors in one of the spare bedrooms that has lots of light. We are growing 30 different veggies/herbs! Mark plans to build a raised garden bed in our back yard. More pictures to come of that as it gets warmer, but for now, we have some great broccoli and brussel sprouts popping up already!
